Shinhan Bank Indonesia Distributes Assistance to Ancol Public School

Bank Shinhan Indonesia carried out corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity at Sekolah Rakyat Ancol, Jakarta, Tuesday (17/6/2025).

The activity, which is part of the “Global One Shinhan” campaign, aims to improve the educational environment located in under-facilitated areas.

“The main purpose of this activity is to improve the educational environment in areas that have not been touched by government assistance so that students can be motivated to learn,” said Bank Shinhan Indonesia's President Director Koo Hyunghoe

Sekolah Rakyat Ancol is a non-formal education institution established by PT Pembangunan Ancol in 2004 as an alternative school. Due to budget constraints, currently, the school only organizes junior high school level education which is divided into two class sessions, namely morning and afternoon. In addition, the condition of the learning environment at the school is also quite alarming, such as the leaking library roof and damaged walls that cannot be used optimally. The lack of stationery is also a big challenge for teaching and learning activities.

Responding to the situation, 12 employees, including three directors and the President Director of Bank Shinhan Indonesia participated in the CSR activity. They helped improve the library environment and donated textbooks and stationery. In addition, the employees also volunteered to make additional donations for the students. Bank Shinhan Indonesia hopes that the CSR activities can strengthen its role as a responsible financial institution to the local community and build an image as a bank that continues to support the weak economic groups.

For information, since its establishment in 2016, Bank Shinhan Indonesia now operates 30 branches and sub-branches. By the end of 2024, the bank's total assets reached US$1.56 billion or have grown more than five times since its inception. This achievement also made Bank Shinhan Indonesia recognized for its success in adapting quickly. With strengths in corporate financing, ranging from business loans, foreign exchange, to export-import financing, as well as various financial products, such as car loans and employee loans, Bank Shinhan Indonesia continues to strive for sustainable growth.
